Comments
See hardcopy for intricate diagrams of restrooms.
Water not accessible.
No accessible features in campsites, very flat.
Trail gravel unstable in spots, accessible route to restroom has 2-3” lip and 15-25% slope. Person would need a lot of assistance here.
Trail notes-There is a good nature trail here-it is the Historical Eagle to Valdez trail. In 1898 gold was discovered in Eagle. In 1900 Congress ok’d money for a telegraph line from DC to AK. Billy Mitchell started in Valdez and worked this way and in 2 years the teams net in the middle to complete it. This trail used as road and they hauled stuff on it in winter for better traction and stability. Summer found it too boggy. This is a historic trail and the highway now follows the original trail here.
This site is nice, but needs some work to make it accessible. Basically a nice camp area with nature trail amidst the forest and views of surrounding areas.
