Following is a list of all of the fees associated with boat registration: REGISTRATION: The following fees apply to original or renewal of boat registration.
*Sport Fishing Guides do not pay the registration fee for non-powered boats. (AS 16.05.395) NOTE: The additional registration fee charged for vehicles renewed at a State DMV office does NOT apply to boats. TRANSFER OF OWNERSHIP: A transfer of ownership applies when the boat is sold to a person or entity other than the party or parties on the last registration. Start the registration over and charge full fees for the class of boat. When at least one owner will be the same or when there is a name change, it is not considered a transfer of ownership for purposes of fees and registration month. ADD/DELETE OR CHANGE OF NAME: When at least one owner is to remain on the new registration, it is not considered a transfer. The registration would remain the same. Charge the fees for a duplicate registration. If the boat is due to be renewed, you may renew the registration in conjunction with the name change. In that case, charge just the renewal fee.
