DEALER SALE - REGISTRATION EXPIRED

  • A new registration month is established if a vehicle registration expires while the vehicle is held for sale by a dealer. The registration month assigned is the month in which the new application is received by the Division.
  • The application must be accompanied by a “Dealer Affidavit of Vehicle Held in Inventory” (Form 813).

CHANGE IN REGISTRATION MONTH REQUESTED

  • The registration month may be changed at the request of the vehicle owner.
  • Must be done in conjunction with an original registration or renewal.
  • See R-180 for procedures on changing the registration month. [AS 28.10.108 (f)]

CHANGE IN USE
(Non-Commercial to Commercial or Commercial to Non-Commercial)

  • A new registration period is established when a vehicle that was registered non-commercially is being changed to commercial use. The new registration month assigned is the month in which the application is made. For commercial trailers, permanent registration is assigned.
  • When a commercial use vehicle or trailer is being changed to non-commercial, the following applies:
    • TRAILER – Start registration over in the month the transaction occurs.
    • VEHICLE – Change the class code and print a duplicate registration. No further fees are required until the vehicle is due for a renewal.
  • See R-210 for procedures on renewing registrations.
