Please contact Contract Services for assistance if a customer presents you with a Children’s Trust Gift Certificate,
as there have been a lot of changes to these procedures.

Children’s Trust license plates are available for motor vehicles. Any person may request a Children’s trust plate and there are no special prerequisites other than the plate must be for a vehicle with a current Alaska registration.

There is a fee of $100.00 for the initial issue as well as replacement plates. This plate fee is in addition to the registration fee for the vehicle. The $100.00 may be appropriated by the legislature to support children’s programs in Alaska.

GIFT CERTIFICATES

Gift certificates for the Children’s Trust Plate were sold at all DMV offices prior to April 2006. These certificates may be given to any person to use in obtaining Children’s Trust Plates. The gift certificates are non-refundable. The fee for the gift certificate is $100.00. When DMV issued a gift certificate, a “Receipt for Fees” was issued and the gift certificate number was recorded on the receipt. If you receive a request for Children's Trust Plates and the applicant provides you with a Gift Certificate, contact your office manager before proceeding, unless the applicant presents you with a Receipt for Fees issued by DMV.

DMV no longer issues certificates. If a customer wants to purchase a gift certificate they should be referred to Children's Trust. www.friendsofact.org 248-7676

When the customer advises that they received the Gift Certificate through a fund raiser sponsored by the Children's Trust, please follow the steps outlined below. NOTE: Kid plates can only be issued during the hours that Fiscal is open.

  1. Customer presents certificate to DMV employee.
  2. Employee calls the Fiscal NSF line. 269-5019.
  3. Fiscal runs Children's Trust credit card.
  4. Fiscal provides Employee with a copy of the settlement for fees.
  5. Employee places the settlement for fees in their batch.
