Fees | Plate Transfer

Special request license plates commemorating Alaska veterans are available for use on a motor vehicle. These are available to both veteran’s and non-veteran’s. The funds collected for these plates go to fund veterans’ programs.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Application for Personalized Veteran Plates (Form 803V).
• There is no restriction as to who may obtain these plates.
• Original plates are requested through the Research Department, the same as personalized veteran plates (R-445). May be renewed in any office.
• When used on leased or commercial use vehicles, be sure to use the correct class code. (41-44 or 91-94)
• Other requirements of registration if vehicle is not currently registered.

FEES [AS 28.10.421(d)(16)]

$100.00 Plate fee. Charged at the time of initial application and for replacement plates.

$35.00 Special plate use fee charged in conjunction with other required registration fees.  New vehicles would be charged both the $100 plate fee and the $35 special use fee.  Vehicles with valid registration would initially be charged just the $100 plate fee; the $35 special use fee would be charged at each registration renewal. 

NOTE: These fees are in addition to the normal registration fees charged for a vehicle.

PLATE TRANSFER

• Application for Title and Registration (812) or Vehicle Transaction Application (821).
• Affidavit/Comment: “Transfer AK Comm Vet Plate #___________”.
• $5.00 plate transfer fee, in addition to any other regular fees that may be due.
• Issue appropriate month and year tabs.
