|
The Assignment of Interest or Notice of Sale or Transfer is attached to the bottom of a title. The seller of a vehicle is required to complete and sign this form to notify the Division of the sale of the vehicle. This notification serves to release a previous vehicle owner of any liability incurred after the sale of a vehicle. This form must be completed, detached from the title, and turned into the Division within 10 days of sale of a vehicle; however, the Assignment is not rejected by the Division if more than 10 days have lapsed. An Assignment of Interest or similar form provided by the Division for the purpose of transfer notification shall include the following information:
The Assignment is not rejected if the seller is unable to remember the exact date of sale or the buyer's name and/or address. If the seller is unable to remember the buyer's name use "unknown" in place of the name. PROCEDURES:
Note: An "F" in the status field indicates a foreign transfer. The "F" is used only when the Alaska title is surrendered to a DMV office in another state or jurisdiction. Do not use an "F" when the address of the buyer is outside Alaska. An "F" code is only for titles that have been canceled by another jurisdiction. Cross Reference:
