Camper Shells / Dollies | NOT Special Mobile Equipment | Requirements

OBTAINING A TITLE FOR SPECIAL MOBILE EQUIPMENT IS OPTIONAL.

"Special Mobile Equipment" means a vehicle which is not designed or used primarily for the transportation of persons or property and is only incidentally operated or moved over a highway, including but not limited to:

ditch digging apparatus forklifts
farm tractors well boring apparatus

Construction and maintenance machinery such as:

asphalt spreaders earth moving carry-alls leveling graders
bituminous mixers earth moving scrapers motor graders
bucket loaders finishing machines power shovels
cranes (self-propelled)   road rollers
concrete mixers (non-self propelled) scarifers
ditchers   tractors (other, than truck tractors)
drag lines    
dump trucks and trailers of excessive width requiring permits for over the road movement

It does not include:

cranes (Other than self-propelled) house trailers off-highway vehicles (R-135)
dump trucks mobile homes (T-300) shovels
    truck-mounted transit mixers
other vehicles designed for the transportation of persons or property to which machinery has been attached

DOLLIES AND CAMPER SHELLS ARE NOT CONSIDERED SPECIAL MOBILE EQUIPMENT
AND ARE NOT TITLED OR REGISTERED IN ALASKA.

TITLE REQUIREMENTS (Issue “Title Only”.* Do not register these vehicles.)

  1. An Application for Title and Registration (Form 812) completed in full and signed in ink.
  2. In the affidavit section, have the applicant write “Title Only”.
  3. A Certificate of Title OR Manufacturer’s Certificate of Origin (MCO), properly released and assigned to the applicant.
  4. See Appendix C for acceptable body styles.

*Note: Although you are issuing a "Title Only", you must print a registration to serve as a receipt
