The U.S. Department of State, Diplomatic Motor Vehicle Office (DMVO) issues titles and registration for vehicles owned by foreign diplomats or diplomatic offices. The only diplomatic offices in Alaska are the Japanese and South Korean Consulates. Any inquiries from these two consular offices or their diplomatic officials should be referred to Headquarters for assistance. See Appendix A - DMV Addresses. The DMVO will issue a title to these vehicles and if the vehicle is sold the title must be released in the same manner as any state title. Any office may accept a properly released Diplomatic Title as a supporting document to transfer title to the new buyer. Cross Reference:
