Mission
Employee Relations is a centralized resource offering expertise and tools empowering State of Alaska employees to prevent and resolve personnel issues. When the need arises, we handle personnel matters in a manner that enables a culture of accountability and respect. We build partnerships to seek holistic solutions that deliver both operational and proactive results.

- Employee Performance Management
- Developing and communicating performance expectations
- Non-disciplinary corrective tools, such as written expectations/instruction and performance improvement plans
- Employee Discipline, including facilitating the progressive discipline process and due process meetings
- Performance evaluation review, tracking, processing, and consultation
- Union Contracts and Engaging with the Union
- Field representation with labor representatives
- Labor contract modifications (Letters of Agreement)
- Union complaint and grievance processing and tracking
- Grievance resolutions
- Arbitration or litigation support
- Investigations and conflict resolution
- Employee complaints
- Performance review appeals
- Informal harassment and discrimination complaints
- Ethics violations
- Mandatory drug/alcohol testing for CDL holders
- Requests for accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act
- Consult with employees, supervisors, and the Department ADA Coordinator (Title 1) to facilitate the reasonable accommodation process
- Approve and process Position Control Changes (PCCs) in the Online Position Description (OPD) system
