Coordination of Benefits (COB) at the Pharmacy

COB at the Pharmacy is Easy as 1-2-3!

1. If you have dual prescription coverage, you can coordinate your benefits right at the pharmacy. All you need to do is present both prescription ID cards to your pharmacist and they will do the rest.
2. The pharmacy will run two claims (the first claim through your primary plan and the remaining amount through your secondary coverage) and in most cases, you will not have any out of pocket expense.
3. The best part? There is no need to complete any paperwork or wait for your reimbursement check in the mail — it is all completed at the point of service.

If you have AlaskaCare as your primary plan and a “non AlaskaCare” plan as your secondary plan, this process may not work. You would need to contact your secondary carrier to see if they can process COB at the point of service.
