Prescription Benefits

AlaskaCare and Medicare Part D

It has come to our attention that members of our plan that are also covered by Medicare may be receiving a notice that their current prescription drug plan will end December 31, 2105 and there is no record of other prescription coverage on file for 2016.

We want to assure you that the prescription benefits have not changed, and AlaskaCare will continue to cover prescription medications in accordance with Retiree Insurance Information Booklet. The State of Alaska has determined that the prescription drug coverage offered by the AlaskaCare Health Plans is, on average for all plan participants, expected to pay out as much as standard Medicare prescription drug coverage pays and is considered Creditable Coverage. A copy of the annual notice regarding your prescription drug coverage and Medicare is available in our October 2015 HealthMatters Newsletter.
