AlaskaCare ID Card FAQs
When will I receive my ID card?
Health Plan ID cards are issued by the AlaskaCare plan when your eligibility is established. Up to two ID cards will be issued for each member It is important for you to present your new AlaskaCare ID card to your providers when receiving care or filling prescriptions. The ID card contains important information such as your member identification number, precertification instructions, and claims filing instructions.
What if I need services before I receive my card?
If you have not received your ID card and need services, use the link above to print a temporary card.
You will need your member identification number for this process. If you do not have your member ID you can contact HealthSmart formerly Wells Fargo TPA at (877) 517-6370 to obtain this number.
Why does my ID card not show the name(s) of my dependent(s)?
We decided to use the simplest approach for ID cards — an approach which reflects the most common practice by health plans nationally. We have provided you with two cards with your name and ID number as the coverage account is yours. These cards may be used by your dependents as well as you.
Because the ID cards do not include a photo or any guarantee of payment, like a credit card, security conscious providers do not rely on the name on the ID. They use it and other forms of identification, during an initial visit only, to connect the patient to the proper insured employee/retiree and to confirm that the person is covered.
How can I request more ID cards?
If you need additional ID cards, use the link at the top of this page. It takes you to the Envision Rx Web site. You will need your AlaskaCare ID number to create an account and login. You can then request new cards. You may also contact HealthSmart (formerly Wells Fargo TPA) to order more cards, toll-free, at (877) 517-6370.
