Open Enrollment for Active Employees

Open Enrollment is the time to review your current benefit elections and make changes for the upcoming benefit year, beginning January 1, 2017.

  • What Plan Am I In?
    Wondering what plan you are in? Your plan is based on your bargaining unit. This page lists bargaining units and associated health plans.
  • What's New with Voluntary Supplemental Benefits?

    • Voluntary Supplemental Benefits at a Glance
      Beginning January 1, 2017, the State of Alaska will partner with MetLife to bring value added services to employees enrolled in Basic Life, Select Life, and the Voluntary Supplemental Benefit (VSB) plan.
    • New! Critical Illness Supplemental Insurance Coverage
      In partnership with MetLife, the State will offer a Critical Illness benefit that pays a lump sum upon certain diagnoses. Diagnoses include cancer, heart attack, major organ transplant, kidney failure, Alzheimer’s disease, and other illnesses.
    • Beginning January 1, 2017, the State of Alaska will no longer offer the Dependent Care Assistance Plan (DCAP) due to low enrollment.
    • Effective at Open Enrollment you can now enroll in Select Life though the enrollment website.

    • Please note: ASEA has a separate Open Enrollment for ASEA Health Trust members, and it usually takes place in May or June. Visit the ASEA Health Trust Web site for details. ASEA members are only eligible for State of Alaska Voluntary Supplemental Benefits.
