2007 Legislation

The following legislation, introduced in 2007, may affect your benefits:

House Bills

  • HB 12 – An Act providing that the employers' unfunded liability in the teachers' defined benefit retirement plan be fully paid in seven years and that the state's portion of the unfunded liability in the public employees' defined benefit retirement plan be fully paid in seven years; and providing for an effective date.
  • HB 13 – An Act relating to prepayments of accrued actuarial liabilities of government retirement systems; relating to the Alaska Municipal Bond Bank Authority; permitting the Alaska Municipal Bond Bank Authority or a subsidiary of the authority to assist state and municipal governmental employers by issuing bonds, notes, commercial paper, or other obligations to enable the governmental employers to prepay all or a portion of the governmental employers' shares of the unfunded accrued actuarial liabilities of retirement systems; authorizing a governmental employer to issue obligations to prepay all or a portion of the governmental employer's shares of the unfunded accrued actuarial liabilities of retirement systems and to enter into a lease or other contractual agreement with a trustee or the Alaska Municipal Bond Bank Authority or a subsidiary of the authority in connection with the issuance of obligations for that purpose, and relating to those obligations; and providing for an effective date.

  • HB 97 – An Act making appropriations for state aid to public schools, centralized correspondence study, and transportation of pupils; and providing for an effective date.
  • HB 107 – An Act making appropriations for qualified regional seafood development associations, for investigation and litigation relating to the public employees' retirement system and the teachers' retirement system, and for a special advisory election; and providing for an effective date.
  • HB 122 - An Act relating to the advisory vote on employment benefits for same-sex partners of public employees and same-sex partners of public employee retirees; and providing for an effective date.
  • HB 129 - An Act establishing a past service cost offset account for required past service cost offset payments owed by employers other than the state to the public employees' pension fund; and providing for an effective date.
  • HB 139 - An Act making supplemental appropriations, capital appropriations, and other appropriations ; amending certain appropriations; ratifying certain expenditures; making appropriations to capitalize funds; and providing for an effective date.
  • HB 179 - An Act relating to insurance for public employees, teachers, and certain retired public employees and teachers and to supplemental employee benefits; relating to teachers' and public employees' defined benefit retirement plans , to teachers' and public employees' defined contribution retirement plans , to employee and employer contributions to the teachers' retirement system and the public employees' retirement system, and to the administration of the Public Employees' Retirement System of Alaska and the deferred compensation program for state employees; establishing in the Department of Revenue the teachers' retirement system past service cost liability account and the public employees' retirement system past service cost liability account; relating to benefits of, references to federal law in, and investments in the teachers' retirement system and the public employees' retirement system; modifying the jurisdiction of the independent office of administrative hearings as related to retirement and related personnel benefits; and providing for an effective date.
  • HB 204 - An Act relating to the public employees' and teachers' defined benefit retirement plans ; relating to the public employees' and teachers' defined contribution retirement plans ; relating to the judicial retirement system; relating to the health reimbursement arrangement plan for certain teachers and public employees; relating to the supplemental employee benefit program; relating to the public employees' deferred compensation program; relating to group insurance for public employees and retirees; making conforming amendments; and providing for an effective date.
  • HB 206 - An Act relating to the accounting and payment of contributions under the defined benefit plan of the Public Employees' Retirement System of Alaska, to calculations of contributions under that defined benefit plan, and to participation in, and termination of and amendments to participation in, that defined benefit plan; making conforming amendments; and providing for an effective date.
