Teleworking Experience Survey (2021)

On 4/28/2021, the State of Alaska Department of Administration distributed a teleworking experience survey to all 16,000 State of Alaska employees. The results reflect the State’s significant shift to teleworking in the spring of 2020, an overarching positive disposition toward teleworking, as well as a common appreciation for the benefits of teleworking.
Salary and Benefits Schedule for School Districts (2015)

In spring 2014, the Alaska Legislature passed HB 278, which included the following language in Section 52: “No later than June 15, 2015, the Department of Administration shall present to the legislature a written proposal for a salary and benefits schedule for school districts, including an evaluation of, and recommendations for, teacher tenure.”

In September 2012, the State of Alaska’s Department of Administration (DOA) engaged The Segal Company (Segal) to identify, plan, and initiate modifications to the State’s classification and pay plans for the purpose of improving their transparency and effectiveness. Specifically, this report offers recommendations to improve the transparency and effectiveness of the classification and pay plans.
Human Resources Structure Review (2009)

As recommended by the Executive Working Group on Recruitment and Retention established under Administrative Order 237, EquaTerra, Inc. is conducting a comprehensive study of the statewide human resources structure. The study will identify efficiencies/deficiencies in the current structure and recommend changes to maximize efficiencies and improve the quality of services provided within existing staffing levels.
Salary Study (2009)
As recommended by the Executive Working Group on Recruitment and Retention established under the Administrative Order 237, Fox Lawson & Associates (FLA) is conducting a comprehensive salary study. The study will compare the salaries, health insurance, paid holidays and personal leave accruals for benchmark positions with similar positions within the federal government, other states, municipal government organizations, and private sector employers. The comparison will determine if the State of Alaska is offering salaries and benefits that are within an appropriate competitive range in relation to other competitive employers.
Geographic Differential Study (2008)

In September 2008, the Alaska Department of Administration contracted with McDowell Group, an Alaska research firm, to conduct a comprehensive, statistically reliable study comparing the cost of living in Anchorage with other communities and regions throughout Alaska. The purpose of the study was to identify differences in the cost of living that could affect pay equity among state employees living in different areas of the state.
