Office of Public Advocacy

Mission Statement

The Office of Public Advocacy (OPA) provides legal advocacy and guardianship services to vulnerable Alaskans. With offices in Anchorage, Juneau, Fairbanks, Palmer, and Bethel, OPA advocates for abused and neglected children in protective proceedings, provides public guardianship for incapacitated adults, advocacy for victims of elder fraud, attorney services for respondents in adult guardianship proceedings, for parents in child in need of aid cases, and conflict cases received from the Public Defender Agency.

Functions

Join the Office of Public Advocacy’s Contractor Pool

The Office of Public Advocacy (OPA) is seeking proposals from qualified individuals and firms to provide competent, effective, and timely legal assistance and representation when there is no OPA staff to provide representation in criminal, adult guardianship, juvenile delinquency, parents in CINA, and Flores custody cases. The state expects to establish a pool of contractors to provide these services across the state.

Details regarding this can be found on Alaska's Online Public Notice site under:
RFP 2013-0200-1579 Contract Attorney Services

The deadline for receipt of proposals is 1:30 PM Alaska time on December 10, 2012.
