How do I request a replacement tab, plate or registration if…..
Alaska law requires:
Alaska law requires you to display one license plate on the back of all passenger vehicles, motorcycles, motorhomes, trucks, vans, trailers, and APV's. For Commercial vehicles that weigh over 10,001 pounds the plate is required to be displayed on the front of the vehicle. A month and year registration tab(s) must be displayed on the plate.
I am listed as an owner on the title/registration and I live in Alaska:
Go to your local DMV office with:
- A copy of your vehicle registration (if available);
- Plate number/VIN number/Make Model;
- Complete Form V1
What if I am outside Alaska and I need a replacement plate/tab/registration due to theft or loss or,
I live in a remote area of Alaska without a DMV:
OPTION A: Online Service (duplicate registration only)
Use our online servce at https://online.dmv.alaska.gov/DMVDuplicateRegistration/
OPTION B: Request by Mail (duplicate registration, tabs and/or plates)
- Complete and sign Form V1
- Enclose check or money order for fee - see fee info below
