Public Defender Agency Divisions
Undergraduate Interns
The Agency welcomes undergraduates interested in formal and informal internships at the Agency. Undergraduates are welcome at any time throughout the year and will be provided the opportunity to learn various duties and skills in support of Agency attorneys. Interns have had various experiences at the Agency that have included:
- spending time in various sections learning about our different practice types
- working intensively in preparation for a serious trial
- learning and practicing the skills and duties of law office assistants and paralegals
Internships are designed in collaboration with the student and in accordance with the guidelines of your educational institution, if part of a formal internship. Internships with the Agency are unpaid.
If you are interested in an undergraduate internship at the Agency please send an e-mail to Shannon Tetlow, Operations, Legislation, & Project Manager, at shannon.tetlow@alaska.gov. Please include your desired location, the time frame for your proposed internship, and your resume. These inquiries are handled on a rolling basis. Ms. Tetlow will review your materials and reach out to schedule an interview and discuss options for your placement at the Agency.
