Social Media Policy Notice
The sole purpose of the State of Alaska’s (State’s) use of social media is to provide information to the public and to engage the public in a civil dialogue regarding only that information.
Prohibited Content
The State will not remove any comment merely because of its viewpoint or because it is unfavorable to any individual or entity, including the State. The State may, however, remove any comment that wholly or partially
- does not relate to the State’s post;
- contains obscene, indecent, or profane language as defined by the United States Federal Communications Commission;
- may compromise safety or public welfare;
- may violate State or federal laws, including laws that protect privacy, proprietary, reputational, or other rights; or
- contains links or attachments that may compromise systems or equipment.
If your comment includes prohibited content, the State may temporarily or permanently block you from commenting on the page.
Personal Information
All comments are public. The State does not control what information is gathered or used by the social media provider or by anyone visiting the social media site. Therefore, we recommend that you DO NOT include any information that you do not want public: e.g., your own or anyone else’s name, social security number, date of birth, or medical, employment, financial, or contact information.
Waiver
You waive your rights to anything you post.
Liabilities and Penalties
Your comments may subject you to civil liabilities and penalties and to criminal penalties. Do not post any copyrighted, trademarked, or other proprietary information without the permission of the rights holder.
Indemnity
You comment at your own risk and agree to hold harmless and indemnify the State from and against any kind of claims or harms, including losses, damages, liabilities, and/or expenses (e.g., the State’s and others’ legal fees and costs), that may arise from your comments.
Retention
The State will retain your comments in accordance with the State of Alaska Social Media Policy.

Non-Endorsements
By not removing any comment or blocking any commenter, the State is not endorsing any content or any commenter.
State Proprietary Rights
No posts of officers or representatives of the State grant any person permission to use any property, including any intellectual property, of the State or affect any proprietary rights of the State.
Disputes
All claims in any way relating to your participation on this social media page will be governed by the laws of the State and the United States and resolved in a State or federal court in Anchorage, Alaska; you agree to submit to the personal jurisdiction of the State and federal courts in Anchorage, Alaska.
Terms of Service
The provisions of this Notice apply to the extent that they are not inconsistent with the social media provider’s terms of service.
